Sharing God's love with the world, one heart at a time.

The Sparkle Shines On

One year ago today, I was inspired to write and post “Choose the Sparkle”. You may want to read it before going any further, so you understand where my thoughts are coming from!

“Choose the Sparkle” meant a lot to me, because it was a tangible way for me to understand and explain how each choice we make in the course of our normal day is of great importance. The trace of each decision to love or not to love will live on as the remnants we leave behind.

Which trail do we wish to leave behind as evidence of our lives?

Do we want to leave a sparkly trail of light or one of darkness? Each one of us must make that decision. To either choose the light and sparkle of Jesus or choose the selfish, darker path.

I want to share with you a little reminder that was given to me, that our actions DO matter, and our acts of love live on.

It has been a year since I first spotted those sparkly sequins on the floor at work. Recently, I have been looking closely at the floor, where those sequins first appeared. And guess what…through a year’s worth of dirt, grime and weekly floor scrubbings, they are still there, shining away!

When I spotted them, still there, and still shining brightly, it brought a smile to my face.

Sharing the Lord’s love and light is never in vain. Sometimes you may not be blessed with the privilege to see the good that emanates from your act of selflessness and love.

However, love is eternal.

Love lives on through hearts that are open to receiving it, and in turn, that love is passed on through those same hearts.

So, as we all know, all that glitters is not gold. However, we can be assured that the True Light will always shine through the darkness…the Sparkle shines on!

34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”   John 13:34-35

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.   Matthew 5:14-16

  1. I loved this post. The analogy you used about the “sparkles on the floor” was ever so meaningful. This post reminded me of a friend I once had, who spoke her mind regardless of how it made anyone feel. She told me one day, “I do not want to be remembered like this. I want to be remembered as someone who is kind and loving to others.” So she begin to change her ways, and though she still can speak her mind at times, it is not done with the brunt force of unkindness. She going to be remembered as she has wished. She made the choice to do so though. Great post and enjoyed reading. God Bless, SR

  2. Lovely post! Your smile alone brings ‘sparkle’ to my own every time I see your face. Truly it is a blessing in my life together with your words.

  3. Love that word ~ Sparkle ~ and the voice behind the word. ~ Amen :Y

  4. Great post and a great question. I think we miss the importance of the statement Jesus made that no matter how much we know, or how much we do even worthy things, “they will know we are Christians by our love”. Thanks for the reminder!

  5. Bernadette, loved this post! We leave a mark on those we interact with and we can choose to leave a mark of love or a mark of anger or judgment. May we all choose to leave a trail of love and grace behind us. Blessings!

    • Thanks so much, Shelly! If only we were all truly aware that each interaction has a real effect, the world would be in a different place. Each heart that understands that, has faith in Jesus, and prays for conversions, illuminates more light in the darkness.

Blessings to you for a joyful Friday and weekend!
