She posted this story on her Facebook feed and I put it on mine. It took off.

The man in her story is Elwyn Caldwell. I found him by happenstance when I was going to the post office a few days later and spotted an old man wearing a veteran’s cap. I noticed a portion of his left ear was missing, a characteristic that fit the description given to me by my sons.

I asked him if a woman with two red-headed young boys gave him a lift the other day. He immediately smiled…

  2. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful story. I think it will be with me always. My Mom is in a nursing home with Alzheimer’s and I see so many elderly people, ignored by their family and it truly breaks my heart. This story reminds me of when we are having what we seem to think is a “bad day,” we can always get up and do something kind for someone. Going to see an elderly person in a nursing home whose family could care less, is one of them. Picking up an elderly person on a hill is another. Great story and again I thank you! God Bless, SR

    • SR, my heart goes out to you and your mom. She is very blessed by you, as I know you have been and are still being blessed by her. Sometimes it is difficult to understand God’s ways, however, we know that he works all things toward good.

It is hard to see so many elderly people alone in their own homes, or in nursing homes. Many times there are issues and rifts that happened through the years in the families, however, forgiveness is the key to their happiness. It is sad to see.
